Meet Dr. Fred C. Crawford, M.D.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Fred G. Crawford to our practice starting in August 2025! Dr. Crawford is a skilled comprehensive ophthalmologist who brings his expertise and compassionate care to every visit.

Originally from Arlington, Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C., Dr. Crawford earned his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, before completing his residency in ophthalmology at Rush University Medical Center, where he had the honor of serving as Chief Resident. His training has shaped him into a well-rounded ophthalmologist, capable of treating a wide range of eye conditions.

Dr. Crawford’s care spans from routine eye exams to advanced procedures such as cataract surgery with cutting-edge technology lenses (including multifocal, astigmatism-correcting, and extended-depth-of-focus implants). He is also experienced in managing glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and dry eye issues. He believes that restoring and maintaining clear vision is key to helping patients live their lives to the fullest, and he takes a personalized, thoughtful approach to each patient’s care.

When he’s not in the office, Dr. Crawford loves exploring the vibrant restaurant scene in Chicago, grilling and smoking delicious food at home, and soaking up the beauty of Lake Michigan with his wife. A fun fact—he used to hold his breath underwater for over two minutes! Talk about focus and endurance!
